Menu Planning 101

Menu Planning - who's with me?!

I don't know about you all, but when the dinner hour rolls around - my crew is a hangry bunch. I have found that if I plan out our menu on a weekly basis, I'm not scrambling for something to feed my family at the last minute, we eat much healthier and I save money by not wasting food. Win, win, win!

My system isn't fancy by any means. I tend to take a look at the calendar first to note what activities we have going on in the evenings. This helps me decide which meals need to be quick and easy - and which can take a little more time. I use my slow-cooker and InstantPot a bunch, I love them both!

I try to plan around the veggies that are in season, and as always, we are gluten-free. Beyond that, I just try to keep things fresh and simple. My kids don't like cheese or creamy, dreamy dishes, so I steer away from those types or recipes. :( One thing that's been helpful is an app that I have on my phone called AnyList. It's pretty cool! You can create organized lists (grocery and Costco for me), collect and organize recipes, and plan your meals on the calendar. My favorite feature is the ability to add ingredients to your list from your recipes. Easy Peasy!

I'll try to share our menu plans on a regular basis here and provide links for the recipes that I use. For my family, I just sub in gluten free ingredients when necessary. Do whatever works for you!

Here is what we'll be eating next week.

Beef Chili *InstantPot

Monday

Tuesday

Roasted Asparagus

Wednesday

Thursday

Grilled Turkey & Cheese sandwiches

Fruit Salad

Friday

Spicy Sausage Pasta (minus most of the cheese for my picky people)
